The popular mecha girl plastic model series "Megami Device", released by Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya, has announced its latest product, "Amaterasu Regalia Eclipse", scheduled for release in April 2025.
The first derivative unit in the Amaterasu Regalia series, "Eclipse", is based on a modification of "Regalia". It incorporates the imagery from the Japanese myth "Amanoiwato Legend", where Amaterasu Omikami imprisoned herself in the Rock Cave, causing the world to lose its light. The "Shin-Goi" equipment, a characteristic feature of the Amaterasu Regalia body series, has been redesigned into an "Eclipse Mode" with blindfolded eyes and a dark purple color scheme. This sacrifices optical sensing capabilities but significantly enhances sound, temperature, and tactile sensing, making it highly effective in dark environments at night or where light is difficult to penetrate.
The "Amaterasu Regalia Eclipse" kit is also a modification of "Regalia", utilizing the large Machineca body newly designed by sculptor Masaki Apsy for the Amaterasu Regalia series. When completed, it stands approximately 18 cm tall and boasts greater articulation than its predecessor, the "Shura series".
In addition to replacing parts with a mysterious deep purple color scheme, it also includes three newly designed pre-painted face parts: "Blindfolded Face", "Wanton Face", and "Crisis Face". The abdomen has been changed to an exposed, unarmored part. Furthermore, it comes with BONUS Susanoo Regalia twin-tail hair parts for replacement, expressing a dark and sensual aura completely opposite to its original sacred image.
