The 'HG (High Grade)' series, offering the most diverse range of 1/144 scale Gunpla, produced by the HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, today officially announced the latest product from the new 3D animation series "Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance": the "HG 1/144 Zaku II F-Type (Lechón's Unit) & Unidentified Zaku II (Lechón's Unit)", scheduled for release in January 2025. This product will be sold exclusively on Bandai's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The 3D animation "Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance", produced using the Unreal Engine 5, is a collaboration between Sunrise and SAFEHOUSE, showcasing powerful war scenes through realistic 3DCG animation. The story is set in the Universal Century of the original "Mobile Suit Gundam", depicting a new original story that takes place on the European front during the One Year War.
In this conflict, the Principality of Zeon initially gained an advantage with their new weapon, the "Mobile Suit", successfully penetrating Earth's battlefields. However, due to the Earth Federation Forces' abundant resources, they developed the "Gundam" to counter them, leading to a gradual stalemate. Eleven months after the war began, one of the Zeon-occupied bases on the Eastern European front was recaptured by the Federation Forces. To reclaim it, Zeon dispatched a mixed battalion, which included the "Red Wolves" mobile suit unit, led by protagonist Solari, who had just descended from space.
The "HG 1/144 Zaku II F-Type (Lechón's Unit) & Unidentified Zaku II (Lechón's Unit)" product will include two mobile suits: the Zaku II F-Type and the Unidentified Zaku II, both piloted by Ensign Niran Lechón, the least experienced member of the "Red Wolves" unit. Utilizing multi-color molded parts, the 1/144 scale models meticulously reproduce intricate armor lines, mechanical structures, and details such as chains and tracks. This faithfully recreates the realistic, utility-focused style brought by mechanical designer Kimitoshi Yamane. The kit also includes dedicated water decals to reproduce markings such as the "Red Wolves unit emblem".
The articulation design of both units is fundamentally similar to the previously released "Zaku II F-Type (Solari's Unit)". In addition to the flexible articulation of various joints, the segmented skirt armor design maintains aesthetic integrity while expanding the range of motion for the thighs. The head part features an internal mono-eye camera position adjustment mechanism, and the leg power pipes incorporate a new movable axis design, reducing interference and allowing联动 rotation when the knee joint bends.
The Zaku II F-Type (Lechón's Unit) comes equipped with a Zaku Machine Gun, Heat Hawk, Zaku Bazooka, and leg missile pods. The Unidentified Zaku II (Lechón's Unit) further adds a large shield covered with tracks and an additional missile pod on the right arm. Metal parts and soft plastic parts are used to reproduce the chains on various parts of the body and the cover for the left shoulder joint, respectively.
