Following the highly anticipated return of the "Top Gun" series with a new sequel after 36 years, recent reports indicate that Hollywood action superstar Tom Cruise is now in discussions with Paramount Pictures. Cruise is reportedly hoping to develop a sequel to his 1990 classic racing film, "Days of Thunder."
This isn't the first time a "Days of Thunder" revival has been proposed. Paramount previously considered adapting the classic IP into a television series for its streaming platform, Paramount+, but Cruise reportedly declined the idea at the time.
Surprisingly, Cruise has now revisited the concept with Paramount, aiming to continue the story 34 years after the original. However, given "Days of Thunder"'s original box office performance of $157.9 million worldwide was considered modest, it remains to be seen whether Paramount Pictures will greenlight Cruise's request.
