Danish LEGO toy company yesterday (6th) officially announced the new year-themed sets scheduled for release on January 1, 2025. This article will bring you product information for "80116 Trotting Lantern" and "80117 Good Fortune"!
First, let's look at "80116 Trotting Lantern," which comes with a special Year of the Snake minifigure. This exquisitely designed lantern boasts 1295 pieces, standing approximately 23 cm tall when assembled. It features the classic red and gold color scheme common in New Year LEGO sets, accented with blue-green elements. Structurally, it can be largely disassembled into three parts. Lifting the top cover and unfolding the upper layer reveals three themed mini-scenes: a snack stall, shadow puppet theater, and a New Year decoration vendor. What's incredibly cool is that this set also includes a light brick! From the official images, it appears to project patterns using transparent patterned elements, making us curious about its actual effect!
Next up is "80117 Good Fortune." If the Trotting Lantern's selling points are its beautiful exterior construction and the special Year of the Snake minifigure, then Good Fortune further demonstrates the possibilities of LEGO bricks! It uses a variety of pieces to create a vase, persimmons, ingots, and even a scroll with the character "春" (spring) and a calligraphy brush – truly amazing! Not only does it instantly fill any space with New Year spirit and joy when displayed, but it can also be paired with your own "Four Treasures of the Study" (brush, ink, paper, inkstone). It's truly incredible to think these could be made with LEGO – super cool! It's worth noting that the fan has two building forms, and the two magpies perched on blooming branches symbolize good things coming in pairs.
