LEGO 40729 Icons Series "Shackleton's Lifeboat" Gift-With-Purchase Information Revealed!

Yesterday (7th), in addition to unveiling the "10335 Endurance" in its LEGO Icons series, Danish LEGO toy company also simultaneously launched a gift-with-purchase (GWP) set, numbered 40729, "Shackleton's Lifeboat"! Overseas, it is expected to be given away for free with the purchase of the Endurance on the LEGO official website and official stores between November 29, 2024, and December 2, 2024.

The Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition, also known as the Endurance Expedition, which began in 1914, was the first human attempt to traverse the Antarctic continent, led by Irish polar explorer "Ernest Henry Shackleton" and his 27 crew members. However, just one year after setting sail, in January 1915, the Endurance encountered massive ice floes in the Weddell Sea off the Antarctic Peninsula and was unable to break free. After ten months of being trapped and continuously crushed by the ice, the Endurance sank to the seabed; following the miraculous survival of Shackleton and all his crew, this ship, which sank in the harsh and unpredictable Weddell Sea, was finally discovered in 2022.

This lifeboat can be seen as the perfect complement to the "10335 Endurance." The crucial factor in Shackleton and his crew's complete rescue was that Shackleton and five of his expedition members sailed 1300 kilometers in a lifeboat through the polar seas to reach South Georgia Island to seek rescue; this set contains a total of 232 pieces, including a minifigure-scale lifeboat, sled components, supply crates, a stove, oars, a camera, a shovel, a sextant, and LEGO minifigures of the legendary adventurer Shackleton and his second-in-command and photographer, Frank Hurley.
