Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company HOBBY Division announced the latest model kit product from the Gundam peripheral project 'Gunpla-kun' (ガンプラくん), the "1/1 Zakupla-kun DX Set", scheduled for release in May 2025.
The protagonists of 'Gunpla-kun' are Gunpla models produced at Bandai's Shizuoka factory. One early morning, a mysterious light suddenly emanated from the production line, and unknown Gunpla runner frames were born from it. These include the most famous RX-78-2 Gundam, MS-06 Zaku II... and many other mobile suits that appeared in the "Mobile Suit Gundam" series. Adopting a unique two-head-tall cartoon style, the series conveys the joy of building Gunpla through cute designs and stories.
The "1/1 Zakupla-kun DX Set" is assembled using multi-color molded parts. Once completed, it stands approximately 8 cm tall and perfectly recreates the cute, slender two-head-tall proportion. The neck, wrists, and legs feature simple movable joints, and the head's mono-eye camera also has a movable mechanism.
Accessories include weapons such as the Zaku Machine Gun, Zaku Bazooka, and Heat Hawk, which can be equipped in both hands for play. Furthermore, the product also includes a "runner-style display base," allowing the Char's Zaku-kun body and its various armaments to be disassembled and attached to the runner, recreating its cute unassembled form from the series.
