The beloved sports comedy "Happy Gilmore," originally released in 1996 and directed by Dennis Dugan with Adam Sandler starring and co-writing, is officially getting a sequel at Netflix. The highly anticipated follow-up, coming nearly 30 years after the original, will see both Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller reprise their roles on the big screen.

In addition to Sandler and Stiller, the cast features several returning actors, including Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen. New additions to the ensemble include rapper Bad Bunny, Margaret Qualley of "Poor Things," Nick Swardson, Benjamin Safdie (co-director of "Uncut Gems"), and NFL star Travis Kelce.

Netflix's "Happy Gilmore 2" is directed by Kyle Newacheck, known for his work as an executive producer on "What We Do in the Shadows." Adam Sandler once again co-wrote the screenplay alongside his longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy, who also worked on the original film. The film is slated for release on July 25, 2025.
