Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS' action figure brand "S.H.Figuarts" recently announced its latest products from "The Lord of the Rings" (ロード・オブ・ザ・リング): "Frodo & Gollum" and "Aragorn"! This article will provide product information for "Frodo Baggins & Gollum" (フロド・バギンズ＆ゴラム), scheduled for release in May 2025, with a suggested retail price of 9,500 JPY.
Frodo, included in this set, stands approximately 12 cm tall. His adventure attire, predominantly deep brown, is faithfully recreated according to the film's design, along with the scabbard for his sword "Sting" and the characteristic hairy feet of a Hobbit. The Elven cloak, gifted by Galadriel to the Fellowship of the Ring, is made of fabric material with an embedded bendable wire, allowing for free removal and various styling options. The head sculpt masterfully captures actor Elijah Wood's facial contours and naturally curly short hair from that era, and includes two expression parts: normal and startled. Accessories include multiple interchangeable hands, including one holding the One Ring in his palm, Sting in its normal state, and Sting glowing blue when sensing Orcs.
Gollum, appearing alongside Frodo in a crouching pose, features a disheveled yet comically expressive face. His sparse, greasy, and matted hair, along with his face distorted by years of the Ring's influence, are excellently rendered. Coupled with his smiling expression, seemingly trying to appease his new master Frodo, the more you look, the more potential you see for amusing displays! Gollum also has articulated joints in his head and hands, though it's hard not to comment on how surprisingly clean and smooth his body and limbs are, apart from his head!
