The 'HG (High Grade)' series of 1/144 scale Gunpla, known for its most diverse range of mobile suits and released by the HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., today announced the rapid commercialization of its latest product from the new Gundam series anime "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX": "HG 1/144 GQuuuuuuX". It will be released simultaneously with the premiere of the pre-release theatrical version "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-", which compiles selected episodes, on January 17, 2025.
The new anime series, "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX", co-produced by two major animation studios—khara from the "Evangelion" series and SUNRISE from the "Mobile Suit Gundam" series—is slated to progressively launch media and merchandise projects in 2025. This work brings together veteran staff including "Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition" director Kazuya Tsurumaki, mechanical designer Ikuto Yamashita, and scriptwriters Yoji Enokido and Hideaki Anno. It also features illustrator Takeshi, known for character designs in the "Pokémon" game series, as the character designer. The protagonist, Machu, is voiced by talented voice actress Tomoyo Kurosawa. This dream team not only generates significant buzz but also raises expectations for the anime's quality.
The protagonist of "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX", Yoha Amate, is a high school girl living a peaceful daily life in a space colony. One day, feeling a sense of unreality, she encounters Nean, a refugee girl. She accidentally becomes the pilot of the mysterious mobile suit "GQuuuuuuX" and gets embroiled in the illegal MS dueling competition "Battle Group Showdown". From then on, Yoha adopts the alias "Machu" and dedicates herself to intense daily battles.
"HG 1/144 GQuuuuuuX" utilizes Bandai's latest color separation, part division, and articulation mechanism technologies to faithfully recreate this mobile suit designed by Ikuto Yamashita, which resembles an EVANGELION. Complex mobile suit structures, armor lines, and rich colors are produced with multi-color molded parts and stickers. Including multi-directional movable backpack thrusters, it features flexible articulated joints to pose dynamic battle stances from the series.
The kit also comes with a wealth of weapon accessories, including head parts for both antenna deployed and stored states, as well as various unannounced armaments such as an axe, shield, beam saber, and beam rifle!
