Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division today announced the latest Gunpla product themed after the "RX-78F00/E Gundam Life-Sized Statue" at the Japan World Expo, the "1/144 RX-78F00/E Gundam (EX-001 Glass Feather Equipment)", slated for release in April 2025.
Standing 17 meters tall next to the "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION" exhibition hall at the 2025 Japan World Expo (Osaka-Kansai Expo) site, the "RX-78F00/E Gundam Life-Sized Statue" is a modification of the previously movable life-sized Gundam from "GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA" in Yokohama. It has been redesigned into a non-articulated, high-kneeling statue gazing up at the cosmos, with the left shoulder armor, skirt armor, and leg armor replaced with new solar panel-like designs. When night falls, special performances featuring lighting and smoke effects will accompany it.
However, the statue outside the venue is not the complete form of the "RX-78F00/E Gundam." Inside the pavilion, a completely new video production will immerse viewers in a "world where humans and mobile suits coexist," experiencing a journey to a space station via an orbital elevator. Along the way, they will witness the Gundam equipped with "Glass Feather" equipment on its back, featuring magnificent solar panel-like wing designs.
The "1/144 RX-78F00/E Gundam (EX-001 Glass Feather Equipment)" is a modification based on the previously released Yokohama version, "1/144 RX-78F00 Gundam." In addition to changing some part molding colors, it features numerous new parts to create the newly designed "Glass Feather Equipment," "Beam Welding Gun," and other armaments. The solar panels of the Glass Feather Equipment are expressed with a large quantity of blue clear parts. By swapping parts, it can also recreate the characteristic pose and backpack design of the venue's statue.
The solar panel wings on the backpack feature movable mechanisms to recreate a closed state, while the pair of mechanical arms above have multi-axis movable joint designs. The new armament, the "Beam Welding Gun," can recreate both deployed and stored states by swapping parts. It also includes a beam rifle, beam saber, and shield for use.
