The new anime series Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, a collaborative production between two major animation studios, khara (of the Evangelion series) and SUNRISE (of the Mobile Suit Gundam series), is scheduled to launch its media and merchandise projects sequentially in 2025. This work brings together veteran staff members such as Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition director Kazuya Tsurumaki, mechanical designer Ikuto Yamashita, and scriptwriters Yoji Enokido and Hideaki Anno, and also features illustrator Take, known for designing Gym Leaders in Pokémon Sword and Shield, as the character designer. The protagonist, Machu, will be voiced by the talented voice actress Tomoyo Kurosawa. This dream lineup is not only highly anticipated but also promises exceptional animation quality.
The story of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX centers on its protagonist, Amate Yuzuriha, a high school girl living a peaceful daily life in a space colony. Feeling a sense of unreality, she one day encounters Nean, a refugee girl, and accidentally becomes the pilot of the mysterious mobile suit "GQuuuuuuX." She then finds herself embroiled in illegal MS dueling competitions known as "Battle Group Duels." From then on, Yuzuriha adopts the alias "Machu" and dedicates herself to intense daily battles.
