The HG (High Grade) series of 1/144 scale Gunpla, known for its diverse range of mobile suits and released by the HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., today announced the latest product from the 1988 manga "Mobile Suit Gundam Double Fake," the "HG 1/144 D Gundam First," slated for release in February 2025. This product will be exclusively sold on BANDAI's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The story of "Mobile Suit Gundam Double Fake" is set in Universal Century 0090. The protagonist, Dally, is a worker at Monoton Co., a subsidiary of Anaheim Electronics. His love for "Gundam" borders on fanaticism, and he successfully assembled a "D Gundam" using various mobile suit scraps. This mobile suit was originally Dally's hobby for engineering work, but thanks to its use of advanced contemporary materials, it performs exceptionally well even in combat. After Dally became embroiled in a battle with the terrorist "Kalad," the D Gundam was gradually modified into combat specifications with the assistance of the Federation Forces.
This HG rendition is the non-combat specification "D Gundam First" that appeared in the early stages of the work. It utilizes completely new parts to recreate its characteristic cobbled-together appearance, exposed pipelines, hydraulic rods, and other mechanical structures. It also features highly flexible modern-standard movable joints, and the gauntlet parts on both arm armors can be deployed.
In terms of accessories, in addition to combat armaments such as a beam shotgun, beam saber, and shield, it also includes Dally's "seven tools" for everyday work, such as a drill gun, glue gun, rivet gun, wired bomb, and magnetic anchor. A single core wire, whose shape can be freely adjusted, is included to connect the gun body to the backpack. The large shield can store the rivet gun and magnetic anchor on its inner side, and is equipped with large glue bombs and decoy flares.
