Danny Boyle, director of the original "28 Days Later," has returned to helm "28 Years Later," the third installment in the series. The recently released first trailer quickly garnered global attention, particularly for an "emaciated figure" that appears at the 1:53 mark. Many viewers were struck by its resemblance to Cillian Murphy, the protagonist of the first film, leading many to believe it depicted Murphy's character 28 years later.

However, shortly after the trailer's debut, The Guardian quickly clarified that the striking resemblance was a misunderstanding. The actor portraying the emaciated figure is actually a newcomer named Angus Neill (pictured above).
Neill, whose primary profession is an art dealer and occasional model, caught director Boyle's eye due to his tall and slender physique, leading to the invitation to join the cast. Neill recounted in an interview with The Guardian that Danny Boyle had expressed a strong desire for him to play the role. They met to discuss it, found they got along well, and Neill subsequently agreed to take on the part.
While the emaciated figure is not Murphy, Cillian Murphy is indeed returning to the franchise. He is slated to appear in all three planned sequels and will also serve as a producer. However, reports suggest that Murphy's screen time in the third and fourth installments will be limited, with his character only returning to a central protagonist role in the fifth film.
