Last week, ">The Wrap reported that Sony Pictures had paused its "Spider-Man" spin-off universe, with no plans for further solo films focusing on Spider-Man-related characters. The report suggested the studio would instead fully concentrate on main "Spider-Man"-centric projects. However, today, another outlet, Deadline, offered a different perspective, claiming that Sony is actually preparing to re-evaluate and restructure this universe, finally taking seriously the consecutive failures of films like "Morbius" and "Madame Web."

Deadline also noted that a key reason for "Madame Web"'s disjointed plot was Sony's decision to cut several pages from the script before filming began, leading to significant issues in the second and third acts. Beyond the spin-off universe, Deadline further revealed that "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse," the third installment in the "Spider-Verse" series, which was indefinitely delayed last year, will still not be released next year. Sony reportedly wants to continue meticulously refining the film, prioritizing quality over rushing it to market.
