The first trailer has dropped for "Warfare," the latest war epic from "Civil War" director Alex Garland. The film is co-written and co-directed by Garland and Ray Mendoza, who served as the military supervisor on "Civil War." This will be Garland's final directorial project before taking an extended break to focus on writing. Like "Civil War," "Warfare" will be distributed by A24 and is slated for release next year, though a specific date has not yet been announced.

"Warfare" boasts a stacked cast of rising stars, including Kit Connor, Henrique Zaga, Will Poulter, Finn Bennett, Cosmo Jarvis, Charles Melton, Michael Gandolfini, Noah Centineo, and Joseph Quinn, who was recently cast as Marvel's new Human Torch.

Based on real-life experiences, "Warfare" is set in Iraq in 2006. The entire film unfolds in "real-time," meaning the duration of the events on screen is synchronized with the movie's actual runtime.
