The Danish LEGO toy company's "LEGO Icons" product series yesterday (18th) evening unveiled a new creation that can be said to span decades, jumping from the 1980s to the modern era: "10355 Blacktron Renegade"! It is expected to be released on January 4, 2025, with a suggested retail price of US$99.99.
The "Blacktron" product series, which began in 1987, features a striking and menacing black and yellow color scheme, and is considered to be in an opposing relationship, like two factions, with another space sub-theme, "Futuron." Blacktron minifigures look especially cool, with an all-black palette complemented by monochrome printing on the torso, showcasing the ruthless demeanor of space adventurers—until you lift the helmet visor and see the classic smiling face underneath....

This Blacktron Renegade, similar to the earlier "40580 Blacktron Cruiser," is an updated work built upon past products, infused with modern parts and building structures, full of nostalgic sentiment. This set contains a total of 1151 pieces, nearly four times the 302 pieces of the 1987 "6954 Renegade." The completed spaceship measures 47 cm in length, retaining the classic asymmetrical design, equipped with three minifigures and a brick-built robot, and boasts excellent playability.
This Blacktron Renegade spaceship, like the "6954 Renegade," can also be disassembled into several modules, including a planet-rover drop pod, landing gear, two wing-mounted space speeders, and two engine energy canisters. On the other hand, fans can also reconfigure it to transform into a bipedal mech, which can be seen as an enhanced version of another 80s set, the "6876 Alienator"! Truly awesome.
