The popular die-cast toy series 『METAL BUILD』, released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, has announced the latest product from 《Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam: The First X》, the "Crossbone Gundam X1 Half Cloth (Kincade's Piloted Specification)", scheduled for release in June 2025.
The one-shot new work 《Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam: The First X》, published in 《Shonen Ace》, is a prequel manga released by original author Yuichi Hasegawa to commemorate Crossbone Gundam's 30th anniversary. Set in Universal Century 0132, the story describes the period before two ace pilots, Seabook (Kincade) and Zabine, became comrades in the space pirate group "Crossbone Vanguard". Seabook challenges Zabine to a duel according to aristocratic rules to invite him to join the Crossbone Vanguard.
To overcome Zabine's specialty in high-speed single-point thrust attacks, Seabook's piloted Crossbone Gundam X1 is equipped with only half of the Full Cloth to reduce weight, allowing it to deploy armor and detach from the main body at any time to maintain the Gundam's high mobility. Additionally, the right side is equipped with the prototype beam weapon "High-Performance Beam Zanber," developed by the Strategic Naval Research Institute (S.N.R.I.). Since the generator providing energy is directly mounted on the shoulder, its overall size and beam output are far greater than the later "Muramasa Blaster," allowing it to function as both a slashing and shooting weapon.
The "METAL BUILD Crossbone Gundam X1 Half Cloth (Kincade's Piloted Specification)" is based on modifications from previously released units in the series, marking the first time Kincade's piloted Crossbone Gundam X1 has been three-dimensionalized. The main body's paintwork has been readjusted in gloss and tone to represent the mobile suit's freshly-out-of-the-factory state in Universal Century 0132, combining a die-cast movable frame, various metallic paint applications, and body marking prints to achieve an extremely high-quality feel.
The "Full Cloth" equipment, also released in the past, features new coloring and multiple movable mechanisms that allow various armor parts to deploy. Both sides of the cloth can be freely attached and detached to achieve the characteristic "Half Cloth" state of this specification. The generator mounted on the right shoulder and the large beam weapon "High-Performance Beam Zanber" are both newly recreated parts, and it also includes an extra-large beam effect part and a dedicated stand to recreate its powerful form in maximum output state.
The mechanisms and armaments of the Crossbone Gundam X1 main body are essentially the same as previous versions. The head's face mask features an upward and downward deploying heat dissipation mechanism, and the core fighter embedded in the chest has a separation mechanism. It also comes with a rich array of weapon accessories, including beam sabers, the Zanbuster, the Brand Marker (beam shield), scissor anchor, and heat daggers hidden in the soles of the feet.
