Japan's TAKARA TOMY toy company, under its highly popular die-cast car brand "TOMICA" and its "TOMICA PREMIUM unlimited" line which transforms popular vehicles from various film and television works into die-cast cars, has launched a new product based on "Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition" – the "Alpine A310 (Misato Katsuragi)" die-cast car. It has a suggested retail price of 1,380 JPY and is scheduled for release on February 15, 2025!
The Alpine A310 first debuted at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show, equipped with a four-cylinder engine and six headlights hidden behind a horizontal glass cover. Although often considered underpowered due to its larger and heavier body without a corresponding increase in power, its striking appearance still earned it favor among many car enthusiasts! In both the TV anime "Neon Genesis Evangelion" and the New Theatrical Edition, Misato Katsuragi drives an A310 to pick up the newly arrived Shinji!
This "Alpine A310 (Misato Katsuragi)" die-cast car faithfully recreates the A310's angular design and flush headlights, embodying the unique aesthetics of the 1970s. The paintwork replicates the iconic sapphire blue finish, and the license plate features the numbers '3310'. The die-cast body is exceptionally sturdy, making it unlikely to be utterly destroyed by Misato in a few moments, unlike in the series!
