Within the "ZOIDS 40TH ANNIVERSARY PROJECT," a 40th-anniversary commemorative initiative for the popular "ZOIDS" series by Japanese toy company TAKARA TOMY, the "AZ SERIES," which recreates classic Zoids using modern technology, has announced a new product, the "AZ-06EX Phoenix Republic Specification," slated for release in late August 2025. This product will be exclusively sold at the official TAKARATOMY MALL online store.
The Phoenix is a Zoid developed with the premise of combining with the lion-type Zoid, "Liger Zero." Through the "B-CAS" changing armor system, it can combine with Liger Zero to form "Liger Zero Phoenix," allowing the cores of both machines to resonate and enhance their performance.
The "AZ-06EX Phoenix Republic Specification" is a modification based on the previously released "Liger Zero Phoenix." The Phoenix unit is sold separately, with its overall color scheme changed to the blue from the original "Zoids Battle Story" model, and a new "drone specification" replacement part added for the head.
The overall specifications are largely the same. The Phoenix, featuring a 1/72 scale and a block construction with 5mm connection parts, boasts a cool design and can be enjoyed on its own. Pressing the button on its back allows its wings to flap manually. The combination mechanism is also reproduced, allowing it to combine with the separately sold "Liger Zero" product from the same series to recreate Liger Zero Phoenix. Specifically, combining it with the similarly colored "AZ-02EX Liger Zero Ray Gregg Specification (Republic Color)" will reproduce the Republic Specification.
