Remember the iconic mecha anime from the 2000s, Genesis of Aquarion? It left a huge mark on many, especially with AKINO's unforgettable theme song of the same name, which is still incredibly popular today.
The fourth installment in the series, Aquarion: Myth of Emotions, is set to premiere on January 9th. Today (1/6), the official channels dropped the creditless opening (OP) video, once again featuring the classic "Genesis of Aquarion" song, much to the delight of fans!
The creditless OP features the theme song "Genesis of Aquarion Myth of Emotions Ver.," performed by the original vocalist AKINO and JAM Project's Yoshiki Fukuyama. It showcases the connection between characters from the past "mythology arc" and the modern cast, alongside thrilling "Mythic Combination" sequences of the Aquarion Sigel, Aquarion Tir, and Aquarion Feoh.

The official synopsis for Episode 1, "Her Story," has also been revealed. The tale kicks off at Enoshima Private Junior High, where protagonist Sakko Otori is a student. The plot begins with Sakko grappling with the death of her childhood friend, Sayo Ichiki. Isolated by her classmates, Sayo was the only person Sakko could truly open up to.
However, after Sakko lays flowers at Sayo's funeral, Sayo mysteriously reappears before her on the way to school one day, beginning to recount tales of myths and events from 12,000 years ago...
Previously, the character designs sparked some debate, with fans even coining the term "reverse animation collapse" to describe them. This left many series enthusiasts wondering if they could truly enjoy this long-awaited new installment without reservation. Will Aquarion: Myth of Emotions deliver the goods and surprise everyone when it finally airs? We'll have to wait and see!
