"Goodnight Punpun" chronicles the turbulent life and struggles of young Punpun Onodera. Punpun and his family are depicted throughout the manga as simple, bird-like figures with minimalist lines, characterized by their beaks. The story follows Punpun from his childhood through adulthood, detailing the profound sorrows of real life as he and his friends navigate their own challenges, making it an intensely poignant and often melancholic work.
The watch dial captures the romantic starry sky, featuring the Milky Way as seen by Punpun and Aiko during their walk home from the factory in Chapter 17.
