The live-action film adaptation of Sony Interactive Entertainment's horror game "Until Dawn" has released its first behind-the-scenes footage today. In the video, director David F. Sandberg, known for the "Shazam!" franchise, and screenwriter Gary Dauberman, who penned the "Annabelle" trilogy, briefly discuss their vision for the upcoming thriller.

While the film shares the same universe and a similar tone as the game, Sandberg guarantees new expansions. He assures audiences that each time the characters experience a "death and rebirth" within the narrative, their journey will immerse viewers in a different type of horror story.

The official synopsis reads: One year after her sister Melanie's mysterious disappearance, Clover and her friends venture into the remote valley where she vanished, seeking answers. While exploring an abandoned tourist center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and brutally murdered one by one. Yet, they awaken to find themselves back on the same night. Trapped in the valley, they are forced to relive the nightmare repeatedly — each time with the killer's methods differing and becoming more terrifying than the last. As hope dwindles, the group quickly realizes their remaining "lives" are limited, and their only way to survive is to make it until dawn.

The screenplay was co-written by Dauberman and Blair Butler, writer of "The Invitation." The film is slated for an April 25 release in North America.
