Founded in 1919, the venerable lacquerware artisan Yamada Heiando boasts over a century of history, serving the Japanese Imperial Family since the Taisho era. Their exquisitely crafted Imperial crest lacquerware plates, tea sets, and other pieces have earned deep admiration from the royals. As an official "Purveyor to the Imperial Household Agency," their works are even used in Japanese embassies worldwide.
Now, this esteemed brand is teaming up with the wildly popular IP, Pokémon, to unveil the "Pokémon Zodiac Lacquerware Mini Bowls"! This collaboration blends the beloved Pokémon universe with Yamada Heiando's signature design prowess, creating an exclusive lacquerware collection that Pokémon fans won't want to miss. These stunning pieces are currently available for order via their official online store.
This initial release features three distinct Pokémon-themed lacquerware mini bowls: Pikachu, Dragonite, and Arbok. Each bowl is meticulously handcrafted by artisans with decades of experience, employing the traditional Maki-e technique.
Maki-e is an incredibly sophisticated and centuries-old craft. This masterful technique leverages the natural stickiness of lacquer to meticulously affix silver or gold powder onto the lacquerware, creating desired patterns that shimmer with a unique golden luster and exude an air of refined elegance.
Crafted from natural wood, each lacquerware bowl offers excellent insulation, keeping the exterior cool even when holding hot food – a thoughtful safety feature for children. Their stable, elevated base design prevents tipping, making them not only practical but also incredibly secure. This makes them a perfect full-moon gift for newborns! Plus, you can even customize them with a Maki-e name inscription for a truly unique keepsake.
Every purchase also includes a charming baby spoon made from natural wood.
Heads up, trainers! These bowls actually went on sale today (January 17th) and were snapped up almost instantly, selling out in a flash! But don't fret – the official word is that pre-orders will reopen on January 31st at 12:00 PM JST, giving more fans a chance to add these treasures to their collection.
