Want Your Cash? Solve It First! MegaHouse Unveils the Rubik's Cube Bank for Brainy Savings

Chances are, you're no stranger to the Rubik's Cube. Invented in 1974 by Hungarian architecture professor Ernő Rubik, it officially hit shelves in 1980 as the "Rubik's Cube" thanks to Ideal Toy Company. Fast forward over 50 years, and it's still a global phenomenon.

Now, Japanese toy maker MegaHouse is adding a twist to their "Rubik's Cube Series" with a super fun new product: the "Rubik's Cube Bank" (ルービックキューブバンク). Get ready to puzzle your way to savings when it officially launches in late January 2025, priced at 4,180 yen.

This isn't just any piggy bank; it's a brilliant combo of saving cash and a brain-teasing challenge! You literally have to solve the cube to get your money out, making saving a whole lot more engaging.

Coins go in through a slot on the center of the blue face. But here's the kicker: you won't see that money again until you've solved the cube, getting all sides to a single color. Only then will the green face open up, letting you retrieve your hard-earned (or hard-saved) cash.

That green face will have an opening, letting you pour out your savings.

The "Rubik's Cube Bank" is a bit chunkier than your standard Rubik's Cube (which is about 57mm per side), measuring a hefty 100mm per side. It can hold up to 100 500-yen coins, totaling a cool 50,000 yen! Plus, it even comes with a strategy guide to help you crack the code and get your money out.
