Released in 2012, "The Dark Knight Rises" grossed over $1 billion worldwide, concluding Christopher Nolan's acclaimed Batman trilogy and largely earning positive reviews from audiences. However, one particular scene at the film's climax has been a frequent target of fan ridicule for years: Marion Cotillard's portrayal of Talia al Ghul's agonizing final moments and death. Many viewers found Cotillard's "death rattle" performance so clumsy and jarring that it became unintentionally comical.

During a recent interview on "Les rencontres du Papotin," Cotillard was directly asked about the long-standing criticism of the scene. She candidly admitted that her performance fell short. "I didn't play that scene well," she confessed. "I didn't find the right way to play it, and I was nervous at the time. Sometimes you just mess things up, and that was one of those times for me."

Cotillard had previously addressed the controversy in 2016, though her stance at the time was somewhat different, suggesting that audiences had overreacted. She stated then, "Sometimes things go wrong, and when you see that on screen, you think: 'Why? Why did they keep that shot?' It depends on whether you want to blame everyone. But I think people overreacted, and it's difficult to make an accurate judgment based solely on this scene. When I try my best to find the truth of every character I play, it's hard to be judged when only this scene is magnified."
