The fan-favorite hit horror-comedy "Ready or Not" was reported last year to be in sequel development, with original directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett confirmed to return. Lead actress Samara Weaving will also reprise her role. Today, Deadline revealed that Kathryn Newton, known for her role as Cassie Lang (the "third-generation Ant-Man") in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is the first new face to join the sequel's cast.

Newton, a frequent presence in recent horror films, previously worked with Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett on their last feature, "Abigail," released just last year, making this their second collaboration. While her role in the "Ready or Not" sequel remains undisclosed, the film will see original screenwriters Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy return to pen the script. Searchlight Pictures is also set to continue its distribution role. A release date for the sequel has not yet been announced.
