Is the erotic thriller genre, which has been largely absent from mainstream Hollywood productions for quite some time, poised for a renaissance? Just recently, news broke that "Wednesday" star Jenna Ortega is in talks to star in a remake of "Single White Female", and today, renowned entertainment journalist Daniel Richtman reported on his personal Patreon page that a new version of "Body Heat," starring the late Oscar winner William Hurt and Golden Globe winner Kathleen Turner 44 years ago, is also in development.

Richtman's report indicates that two-time Oscar winner Emma Stone is currently being eyed for the lead female role in the new "Body Heat" remake, while Kimberly Peirce, who directed the 2013 version of "Carrie" and Hilary Swank's Oscar-winning debut "Boys Don't Cry," has already signed on to direct. As for who might step into the shoes of the late Hurt to portray the passionate and steamy extramarital affair with Stone, no names have surfaced yet.
