Japan McDonald's Goes Full Nico Niconi Again! Drops New Ad Featuring Kasane Teto's Classic "Ochame Kinou"

Japan McDonald's has been absolutely crushing it with their wild and creative social media campaigns lately. We've seen them team up with Hololive's Sakura Miko for a "Butter Croquette Burger" promo song, and even drop a "Shake Shake Chicken & Fries" (Shaka Shaka Potenage) ad with Vocaloid diva Hatsune Miku. Their out-of-the-box ideas just keep getting more and more limitless!

Today (March 19), following their previous collaboration with Kasane Teto for a fun McDonald's video featuring her song "TETORIS", they've once again joined forces with the iconic UTAUloid. This time, they've taken her classic track "Ochame Kinou" and remixed it into another McDonald's-themed ad. Fans are already losing it, asking "What is Japan Mac on?!" and declaring that Teto has officially been brought back to glory.

For those unfamiliar, "Ochame Kinou" is deeply tied to the "Fukkireta" meme on Niconico. The original track was submitted for Kasane Teto's birthday celebration, with lyrics and music by Gojimaji-P (=Lamaze-P), illustrations by Chiai, and the music video by Kikka.

The MV features Kasane Teto's incessant swaying, paired with an incredibly catchy, repetitive melody. It quickly became one of Teto's signature songs and inspired countless Niconico users to unleash their creativity, adapting it into all sorts of bizarre swaying animations. This phenomenon became known as "Fukkireta," cementing its status as an internet meme of epic proportions.

▼ Here's an example of an adaptation, featuring the iconic 8-head tall Monā (a classic 2ch ASCII character) dancing to the beat. McDonald's had previously remixed the same character's classic Nico Niconi meme "Get Dan☆"

This time, McDonald's remixed the track, featuring Kasane Teto swaying with McDonald's logo hair accessories, all while promoting their "Double Burger" campaign alongside some tasty-looking burgers.

Even McDonald's official X account posted about it, saying they never imagined they could recreate the "Fukkireta" meme, calling it a "dream come true." It's clear the Japan Mac crew has some serious old-school Nico Niconi fans among them!

McDonald's back-to-back Teto videos have many netizens convinced that the fast-food giant is truly dedicated to staying trendy while also remixing beloved old memes. It's definitely garnered high traffic, leaving many netizens joking about how unpredictable Japan Mac has become lately!

While it's just an ad campaign, Japan Mac's creative inspiration is clearly hitting all the right notes. Their unexpected, wild ideas are truly endless, and they're leaning more and more into internet meme culture. Who knows what new levels Japan Mac will hit next!
