The first spinoff film in the "John Wick" franchise, "From the World of John Wick: Ballerina," is set to dominate the summer box office this June, and a second official trailer has just been released. The footage reveals a critical plot twist: the legendary assassin John Wick has been ordered to hunt down "Eve," a fellow student from his own academy.

"Ballerina" is helmed by "Live Free or Die Hard" director Len Wiseman. The screenplay comes from Shay Hatten, who worked on the third and fourth "John Wick" installments, and "Promising Young Woman" director Emerald Fennell, who contributed to different drafts of the script.

The cast of "Ballerina" brings together a mix of franchise veterans and new talent. Returning stars include Keanu Reeves, Anjelica Huston, and the late Lance Reddick as Charon. They are joined by newcomers Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus, Catalina Sandino Moreno (an Oscar nominee for "Maria Full of Grace"), and of course, Ana de Armas as the protagonist, Eve.

The story is set between the events of "John Wick: Chapter 3" and "Chapter 4," exploring John Wick's recovery after his near-fatal fall while also following Eve's own training as she embarks on a quest to avenge her family. The film is scheduled to hit North American theaters on June 6.
