Having captivated audiences for nearly 90 years, LEGO remains a beloved pastime for both children and adults, with many using its self-constructible bricks to create their favorite forms. We've previously featured the impressive MOC works by Japanese master Seirei ( @seirei526 ), who crafted a LEGO "ν Gundam" and "Unicorn Gundam" that left a lasting impression.
Recently, Seirei shared a new creation. This time, he challenged himself with the "God Gundam," the mobile suit piloted by Domon Kasshu from "Mobile Fighter G Gundam." Crafted with an incredibly imposing, artisan-level structure, it's almost impossible to imagine it's assembled from LEGO bricks, presenting an appearance distinct from traditional Gunpla models.

Each creation must present a new challenge, and this time, Seirei's work focuses on "pose articulation." This project deviates from his previous style, shifting from works that were "packed with detail but completely immobile" to a design emphasizing poseability! This time, he specifically engineered 88 articulated joints, allowing it to strike classic poses such as "HYPER MODE" or "Bakunetsu God Finger"!

For instance, the God Gundam's hand features gauntlet claws, and each finger can move independently, perfectly recreating the intricate details of the "Bakunetsu God Finger"!

Furthermore, the entire arm's articulation, including movements like upper arm rotation, elbow bending, and forearm rotation, must be achievable to fully showcase the God Gundam's dynamic capabilities. (Seirei also noted that maintaining stable poses is significantly more challenging than designing the movable structures themselves.)

Next came the issue of weight distribution. Significant time was spent on the shoulder and elbow designs to support the weight of the arms, ensuring they could be fixed at any angle.

For the chest armor, an actuator (アクチュエータ) is embedded in the back, allowing the chest to move forwards and backwards, while the shoulder joints are designed to extend forward.

Furthermore, a significant challenge this time was the degree of articulation in the legs. The thighs boast XYZ-axis mobility, allowing for rotational movement that captures the God Gundam's dynamic poses. The knee armor moves in conjunction with bending, and the ankles, like the thighs, possess XYZ-axis articulation while also having the strength to support the entire body's weight.
This section required considerable effort; for optimal performance, even the tips of the feet are articulated.

Although it took a considerable amount of time, Seirei is extremely satisfied with the result. Standing 50cm tall (reaching 62cm in "HYPER MODE"), with 88 points of articulation throughout its body, including armor and joints, it can strike a variety of impressive poses! The articulation, in particular, pushed him to explore ideas he had never considered before, challenging his own perception of LEGO's "possibilities."
Seirei also stated that he plans to attempt other mobile suits in the future, believing that LEGO offers even more creative avenues. He will gradually refine the lessons learned from this project, hoping to achieve his goals bit by bit.

We wonder if our readers enjoy Seirei's LEGO "God Gundam"? We're sure there are many LEGO masters hidden among our fans. Perhaps you could create a similar work, or even if you have an even more incredible LEGO masterpiece, we welcome you to share it with us!
