Two-time Academy Award-winning director Alfonso Cuarón revealed months ago that he was once attached to a James Bond film years prior. However, he ultimately withdrew from the project, citing dissatisfaction with the studio's refusal to let him personally direct the action sequences and a lack of the deep passion he felt was necessary to helm a Bond movie. Recent rumors, however, suggest that Cuarón has rekindled his interest in the franchise and is now reportedly in discussions to direct the next installment.

Earlier this month, renowned entertainment reporter Jeff Sneider predicted in his paid newsletter, "The InSneider," that if David Heyman—the "Harry Potter" series producer currently in talks to executive produce the seventh Bond film—takes on the role, then Cuarón would be the most likely candidate to direct. Cuarón previously collaborated with Heyman on "Gravity" and "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban."

More recently, Matt Belloni, an entertainment reporter from "Puck News," disclosed on his podcast, "The Town," that Cuarón has indeed met with Amazon, which recently acquired creative control over the Bond franchise. Cuarón reportedly pitched his fresh vision for the next generation of Bond, though whether Amazon will accept his proposal remains to be seen.
