Last month, Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas were spotted dining together in London, UK, leading some netizens and tabloids to speculate about a new romance. However, sources later clarified that the pair were simply meeting with their agents to discuss potential future collaborations, with no signs of a romantic relationship. Now, the film they were reportedly discussing appears to have finally been revealed.

Renowned film journalist Daniel Richtman disclosed on his Patreon page this morning that the project Cruise and de Armas were discussing is "Deeper," a new supernatural thriller directed by Doug Liman (pictured left), known for "The Bourne Identity." Cruise is confirmed to star, while de Armas is in talks for the female lead.

While Cruise and de Armas have never shared the screen before, Cruise and Liman are frequent collaborators. They previously worked together on "American Made" and "Edge of Tomorrow" and are currently developing an ambitious project to film the first Hollywood movie in space.

"Deeper" is described as a supernatural thriller that follows a disgraced astronaut who encounters a terrifying, mysterious force during a deep dive into an uncharted oceanic trench. The project has been in development for nearly a decade, originally set up at MGM in 2016 after the studio acquired the script from Max Landis, screenwriter of "Chronicle."

"Deeper" was once slated to star Bradley Cooper and be directed by Kornél Mundruczó ("Pieces of a Woman"), but the project never moved forward into production. Later, Idris Elba and Baltasar Kormákur ("Beast") also took a turn at the helm, but it similarly stalled. Now, all eyes are on the Cruise-Liman pairing to see if they can finally bring the long-gestating project to fruition.
