Reports surfaced in January that Ryan Gosling was set to join the "Star Wars" universe, starring in a new spin-off film directed by "Deadpool & Wolverine" helmer Shawn Levy, with production slated to kick off this fall. Recently, entertainment scooper MyTimeToShineHello revealed that Jodie Comer is also in talks to join the project's cast.

Unlike Gosling, Comer is already a part of the "Star Wars" saga, having made a cameo appearance in "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" as Rey's biological mother (pictured above). However, it remains unconfirmed whether she would reprise that specific role in this new return to the franchise. Comer previously collaborated with Levy, starring in his 2021 hit "Free Guy."
The untitled film's screenplay is being penned by Jonathan Tropper, who previously worked with Levy on "This Is Where I Leave You" and "The Adam Project." Officially confirmed to take place after the events of "The Rise of Skywalker," current rumors suggest this will be a smaller-scale, lower-budget "Star Wars" entry, with Gosling's character reportedly accompanied by a Jedi apprentice.
