Japanese bathhouse chain Gokurakuyu is no stranger to anime collaborations, having previously teamed up with popular franchises like Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, and hololive, all to rave reviews.
But today (April 11) brought a surprising announcement: a collaboration with Pokémon! This time, the event centers around the most iconic villainous organization in both the anime and main series games: Team Rocket. Dubbed "Pokémon Bathhouse! Team Rocket," the partnership has left many fans thrilled and utterly surprised by this unexpected crossover.

This special event ties in with the "Glory of Team Rocket" expansion pack for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, set to release on April 18. That's why Team Rocket is taking center stage! Fans can expect to see many of the Pokémon featured in the anime alongside Team Rocket. Beyond a plethora of original merchandise, those who purchase the "Pokémon Bathhouse! Team Rocket Plus Set" will receive one of ten randomly selected support towels.

Throughout the event, themed bath pools will be introduced in phases, featuring iconic Pokémon like Mewtwo, Meowth, Wobbuffet, Mimikyu, Weezing & Arbok, Houndoom, Murkrow, and Nidoking.

And what's a bathhouse experience without some grub? Exclusive collaboration meals are also on offer, with dishes and drinks designed to capture the unique characteristics and imagery of Team Rocket's Pokémon. Perfect for refueling after a relaxing soak!

Purchase any drink or meal set to receive one of nine randomly selected original coasters. Opt for a food item, and you'll snag one of five randomly distributed original keychains.

Adding to the fun, the venues will also host Pokémon Trading Card Game experience sessions. New players can reserve a spot for a tutorial, while seasoned trainers can rent decks and jump into battles anytime. Participants will even receive a collaborative mini-poster!

Netizens are buzzing, surprised that even a bathhouse could team up with Pokémon, let alone Team Rocket! Is Team Rocket now expanding its empire into Japan's bathhouse industry to rake in some cash?

The event runs from April 24 to May 21, 2025. If you're in Japan and looking for a unique Pokémon-themed experience, this might just be your next adventure!
