BANDAI CANDY, the confectionery toy division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product in its popular Gundam confectionery toy series, "FW GUNDAM CONVERGE," featuring the "RX-78F00/E Gundam" based on the life-sized "RX-78F00/E Gundam" statue at the Japan World Expo, scheduled for release in September 2025.
At the 2025 Japan World Expo (Osaka-Kansai Expo) exhibition area, the 17-meter-tall "RX-78F00/E Gundam" life-sized statue, standing next to the "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION," is a modified version of the previous life-sized movable Gundam from "GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA." It has been redesigned as a non-articulated, high-kneeling statue gazing up at the cosmos, with its left shoulder armor, skirt armor, and leg armor replaced with new solar panel-like designs. At night, special performances featuring lighting and smoke effects will accompany it.
However, the outdoor statue is not the complete form of this "RX-78F00/E Gundam." Inside the pavilion, a completely new video production will immerse viewers in a "world where humans and mobile suits coexist," experiencing a journey via orbital elevator to a space workstation. Along the way, they will witness a Gundam piloted with magnificent solar panel wings, "GLASS FEATHER," equipped on its back. This equipment possesses the ability to separate individual solar panels and remotely control them like funnels, combating the sudden assault of a "Zeong MA type."
The "FW GUNDAM CONVERGE RX-78F00/E Gundam" product includes the "RX-78F00/E Gundam" and the enhanced equipment "EX-001 GLASS FEATHER" that appeared in the pavilion's video. At a mere 5.5 cm tall in SD scale, it meticulously sculpts the intricate exterior armor and solar panel details, while also featuring rich color applications.
The solar panels on various parts of the main body, such as the shoulders, front skirt armor, and legs, are reproduced with metallic blue paint. The solar panels on the GLASS FEATHER equipment, however, are directly made from clear blue parts. Not only do their surfaces reveal internal structural patterns, but their backsides also showcase high-density details of the armor and thrusters. Furthermore, the Gundam's main body can be separated from its backpack at any time for individual display.
