Issued by BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS, the 6-inch action figure series "GUNDAM UNIVERSE," designed for "Mobile Suit Gundam" fans worldwide, announced the latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam," the "RX-78-2 Gundam (RENEWAL)," is scheduled for release in October 2025.
The "GUNDAM UNIVERSE" series, first announced in 2019, consists of 6-inch tall finished action figures of Gundam, with many differences in machine design from the original work, giving the armor lines a sharp, robust, and more three-dimensional look from any angle. The multi-joint design is quite sturdy and suitable for play. While the toys are durable, they had some drawbacks such as overly bold styling in parts and lower-than-expected articulation. Now, Bandai has finally launched an improved new product, re-releasing previously featured mobile suits with a new articulated frame and new sculpting.

▼ New improved version for 2025.
The "GUNDAM UNIVERSE RX-78-2 Gundam (RENEWAL)" is re-created with new sculpting, utilizing numerous panel lines and undulating designs that differ from the original, giving the exterior armor high-density detailed styling and a modern silhouette. The articulated parts adopt the newly developed "UNIVERSAL REACTION FRAME," expanding the range of motion for the torso and limb joints.
The included weapon accessories are also richer than the old version. In addition to the standard Beam Rifle, Beam Saber, and Shield, this time it also includes classic weapons such as the Hyper Bazooka, Beam Javelin, and Gundam Hammer, allowing for various battle poses to be achieved with the greatly improved range of articulation.
