Move over, official consoles! YouTuber BigRig Creates recently blew minds on his channel, showcasing his incredible 3D printing and circuitry skills to craft a custom Nintendo home console series inspired by the iconic Pokémon Porygon family. His playful designs, which reimagine consoles as Porygon Pokémon, have garnered massive attention and rave reviews since the video dropped.
This isn't BigRig Creates' first rodeo; he previously wowed fans with a custom "Porygon Wii." For him, fitting the console's guts into a custom shell is the easy part – the real challenge lies in the creative design itself.
This time, he decided to tackle Porygon2, upgrading the console to a Wii U. He started with a simple sketch – and yeah, it definitely has that 'soul painter' charm!
Next up, naturally, was building the 3D model for printing.
Of course, beyond just the aesthetics, solid circuitry knowledge is crucial to ensure everything connects and functions perfectly.
He then disassembled and repainted both the Wii U console and its controller.
After integrating the printed Porygon2 model with the circuitry and the console, voilà! A fully functional, playable masterpiece was born.
But BigRig Creates wasn't done yet! After completing the Porygon2 Wii U, he unleashed his creativity once more, upgrading to a "Porygon-Z Switch" to explore even more wild possibilities.
This time around, it was a bit simpler: just print the shell and pop the console in.
Still, the design features some clever touches, especially with the Joy-Cons. They're designed to mimic Porygon-Z's limbs (whether you see them as legs or arms!) and attach magnetically to the main body, making storage convenient and seamlessly integrating them into the overall aesthetic.
The design even allows for clip-on attachment, so you can secure it to a desk or chair leg for gaming on the go – no problem at all.
