X User Snags Giant Sunfish for Just ¥5,000, Turns It Into an Epic Feast, Claims: "I Ate the Whole Thing in Three Days!"

Recently on Japan's X, a user known for sharing bizarre culinary creations, "Kishoku Suhaisha Rikuto" (@naze6622), unveiled his latest jaw-dropping project. This time, he took an entire sunfish (yes, the massive kind you see at aquariums!) and transformed it into an "epic sashimi platter." The sheer audacity of it left countless people exclaiming, "What kind of madman's feast is this?!"

The post blew up, racking up over 10,000 reposts and 110,000 likes, with netizens collectively shouting, "Who even thinks of doing this?!"

The saga began with Rikuto's post: "I've got a sunfish in my bathtub!!!!" The photo showed a sunfish floating in his home tub, a surreal sight that had many initially thinking it was Photoshopped.

Measuring about one meter long and 80 centimeters wide, the fish barely fit into the single-person tub, with its dorsal fin peeking out. Rikuto snagged this aquatic behemoth at "QUEENS MART YAOMASA," a local supermarket in Odawara, Kanagawa Prefecture, renowned for its incredible seafood finds—they occasionally stock some truly wild stuff.

And here's the kicker... this bathtub-sized sunfish cost him a mere ¥5,000! Turns out, you can score such an unbelievably cheap and rare catch in that area!

Since sunfish can carry parasites, "Kishoku Suhaisha Rikuto" took no chances, freezing the entire fish overnight in a commercial freezer at a bone-chilling -50°C! After this extreme treatment, he began his culinary work, though he later found no parasite issues upon thawing.

The prepared fish meat was then transformed into a stunning "sugatazukuri" (whole fish presentation). The beautiful, glistening pink flesh was artfully arranged on a bed of greens, looking incredibly fresh. The complete fish head was placed alongside as a dramatic centerpiece, creating a display so grand it looked more like an ecological exhibit than a meal. Garnished with lemon slices and tomatoes, it could easily pass for a dish from a high-end seafood restaurant, couldn't it?

Beyond sashimi, he also whipped up: kimchi hotpot, braised offal (think braised intestines), and grilled fish head. He specifically noted that the intestines and heart were the absolute best parts, even braising the intestines, heart, and liver together into a "sunfish offal trio" that he described as incredibly delicious!

This amount of food looks like it could feed a dozen people at a family banquet, right? Well, "Kishoku Suhaisha Rikuto" ate it all by himself. He declared: "I spent three days eating the entire thing." Buying a whole fish, hauling it home, freezing it, thawing it, filleting it, plating it, cooking it... and then slowly devouring it all alone. This guy is basically a hardcore culinary ascetic!

"Kishoku Suhaisha Rikuto" regularly shares his wild food adventures on X, so if you're curious, definitely check out his account. What kind of insane culinary creation will he unveil next? We can only wait and see!
