Director Zach Cregger, who made a name for himself in 2022 with the critically acclaimed original horror film "Barbarian," is set to deliver his latest self-written and directed horror feature, "Weapons," this summer. Warner Bros. recently dropped its teaser poster (below) and teaser trailer.

The official synopsis reveals that on the same night, at the same time, all the children in the same class mysteriously vanish, except for one. The entire town begins to question who or what is behind these disappearances. The film is set in the same universe as "Barbarian," serving as a spin-off in the series, and is slated for an August 8 release in North America.

Prior to the trailer's release, Warner Bros. had already launched a viral marketing website for "Weapons," MaybrookMissing.net, which features multiple surveillance videos from the town on the night the children disappeared, building an atmosphere of intense mystery and suspense.

The film's ensemble cast includes three Marvel Cinematic Universe veterans: Benedict Wong (known as Wong in the MCU), Julia Garner (set to debut as the female Silver Surfer in "The Fantastic Four: First Steps"), and Josh Brolin (Thanos). They are joined by Alden Ehrenreich (who played young Han Solo) and Austin Abrams, known for his role in "Euphoria."

"Weapons" has been a highly anticipated project in Hollywood since last year. Warner Bros. Pictures is reportedly so pleased with the film's quality that it fiercely competed with Sony Pictures to acquire Cregger's proposed new "Resident Evil" film project. Although Sony ultimately won the bid, Warner Bros. remains keen on future collaborations with Cregger. "Weapons" has already held multiple secret test screenings, generating extremely positive word-of-mouth among attendees, positioning it as a potential major talking point for this summer's blockbuster season.
