When "John Wick: Chapter 4" hit theaters two years ago, Lionsgate had already signaled that a fifth installment was inevitable. This year, at CinemaCon, the studio officially confirmed "Chapter 5" was in active development. However, the plot direction for the upcoming film remains a mystery, with no concrete synopsis released by officials. Now, Chad Stahelski (pictured left, below), director of the first four "John Wick" films, has offered some initial clues in a recent interview with Empire magazine.

Stahelski told Empire that John Wick's legend has largely concluded. Therefore, the only way to approach a fifth film is to craft a new narrative where John Wick simply happens to be involved. He emphasized that this won't be a typical sequel, nor will it revolve around the High Table. Furthermore, John has already confronted his grief. Stahelski predicted that "Chapter 5" would be vastly different, and that upon seeing the trailer, audiences would undoubtedly exclaim their excitement and feel compelled to watch it.

Stahelski also hinted that an animated prequel film, detailing John's legendary "last job" before his retirement, along with a spin-off series focusing on members of the High Table, will play crucial roles in setting the stage for the main "Chapter 5" storyline.
