This Japanese Collector Turned His Empty Childhood Home into the Ultimate Retro Gaming Paradise!

Retro style has become a major nostalgic trend lately, influencing music, businesses, and culture worldwide. Many people share an inexplicable love for vintage items and things from bygone eras.

Recently, the Japanese real estate platform "SUUMO" unveiled a dream-level unboxing video on its YouTube channel: an entire vacant house transformed into a "Game Paradise" that combines a 20th-century arcade, a toy store, and a Showa-era candy shop. It's seriously enough to make anyone green with envy, and netizens have showered the renovation with praise!

The mastermind behind this home transformation is Proudrow, who runs the "Electronic Game Enthusiast Club" and the "Retro Home Console Community." He took his old family home, which became vacant after his mom and brother moved out, and converted the entire building into his personal game collection museum.

Step through the ground floor entrance, and you're immediately greeted by an arcade area that would have driven any kid wild! Spanning a massive 20 tsubo (approximately 66 square meters), it's packed with nearly 15 arcade machines, including SEGA's "Space Harrier," "After Burner," and NAMCO's classic mechanical game "Submarine." The setup is absolutely spectacular.

Next up is the "Retro Home Console Room," showcasing vintage home consoles from before the 1980s. We're talking Nintendo Game & Watch, BANDAI, Yonezawa LCD handhelds, and even the world's first home TV game console, the "Odyssey." Talk about hardcore collecting!

The second floor is even more mind-blowing, featuring a direct replica of a "Showa Candy Store Game Corner," complete with tabletop arcade machines and coin-operated gambling games. It's like stepping into a time machine! Adjacent to it is the "Software Museum," a converted display room with demo stations and display TVs, making you feel like you've walked right into a game store.

Proudrow shared that these treasures were hard-won, with many fellow enthusiasts providing resources and connections to help him gather these pieces of his own memories. For him, the greatest joy in building this dream collection museum comes from being completely immersed in his own world. It's also a way to express his lifelong passion for games, and he plans to continue upgrading the lighting and interior design to achieve an even better display for his collection.
