GTA Veteran's "Everywhere" Reportedly Folded Into "MindsEye"; Industry Concerns Mount

Build a Rocket Boy, the studio led by former "Grand Theft Auto" producer Leslie Benzies, is set to launch its new action-adventure game "MindsEye" on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. However, the once highly anticipated creative platform "Everywhere" faces an uncertain future. Its core creation tool, Arcadia, has reportedly been integrated into "MindsEye," sparking widespread speculation that "Everywhere" may have been canceled.

"Everywhere" was initially revealed in 2023, touted as a platform where players could create and share combat and racing experiences. It featured a robust Arcadia creation suite, allowing users to build everything from small objects to full levels with AI-driven behaviors. "MindsEye" was also announced at the time, originally positioned as an open-world action-adventure game within the "Everywhere" platform.

However, the situation shifted last October when "Hitman" series developer IO Interactive announced it would publish "MindsEye," positioning it as a standalone title. More recently, it was confirmed that "MindsEye" will include a set of creation modules: "Build.MindsEye," which provides players with tools to create their own games, and "Play.MindsEye," serving as a platform for sharing and experiencing content.

The studio further stated that "MindsEye"'s creation system evolved directly from "Everywhere"'s Arcadia suite, and the original test versions were primarily used to validate the system's viability.

Build a Rocket Boy explained that as product development progressed, natural evolution occurred. Arcadia, originally conceived as their creative platform, gradually grew into the blueprint for Build.MindsEye and Play.MindsEye during "MindsEye"'s development, combining the main storyline, player-created content, and official content into a unified experience.

Furthermore, game producer Leslie Benzies personally addressed external concerns about the game's length during an interview with foreign media. He acknowledged that "MindsEye"'s main story is expected to be completed in approximately 20 hours, which is more concise compared to "Grand Theft Auto," but he views this as a deliberate trade-off.

Benzies explained that data showed a significant portion of players—around 60% to 70%—do not finish large games. Therefore, when developing games, he prefers players to experience the entire story from beginning to end rather than creating a 200-hour title. He aims to craft a completable experience while incorporating side content to enrich the world.

He added that many side missions in "MindsEye" serve to flesh out character backgrounds or explain ongoing events within the game's world.
