From "Star Wars Jedi" to "D&D": Stig Asmussen's Giant Skull Teams Up with Wizards of the Coast for New Action-Adventure Game

Stig Asmussen, the acclaimed game director behind "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order" and "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor," has announced that his newly formed studio, Giant Skull, will develop a single-player action-adventure game set in the "Dungeons & Dragons" universe. The studio has also secured a publishing agreement with Wizards of the Coast.

Established in March 2024 and headquartered in Los Angeles, Giant Skull aims to create AAA action-adventure titles characterized by "gameplay-driven experiences, deep narratives, and captivating world-building." The upcoming "Dungeons & Dragons" title, developed in partnership with Wizards of the Coast, will utilize Unreal Engine 5 and launch on PC and consoles. Specific release dates and game details are currently under wraps.

Following Larian Studios' announcement that it would conclude its collaboration with the "Dungeons & Dragons" IP after the massive success of "Baldur's Gate 3," Wizards of the Coast has been actively seeking new development partners to expand the brand's presence in the digital gaming space.

While game details remain scarce, this high-profile collaboration has undoubtedly excited "Dungeons & Dragons" fans and injected new energy into the single-player action-adventure genre. The industry will be watching closely to see if this partnership can forge another classic.
