The popular die-cast toy series 『METAL BUILD』, released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced its latest product commemorating the 30th anniversary of the 《Evangelion》 series, the 「EVANGELION Unit-00/Unit-00' (Kai) 30th with the spear of Longinus」, slated for release in June 2026.
The 「METAL BUILD EVANGELION Unit-00」, unveiled in 2021, was designed and supervised by Mr. Ikuto Yamashita. Its styling differs significantly from previous EVA versions, conceptualized as 「a giant with steel muscles」, featuring exposed metal structures at the joints. It incorporates various original mechanisms unique to the METAL BUILD series, with a body proportion similar to the human form, and multiple joints such as elbows, hips, and knees made from alloy materials.
The entire body features rich color painting and printing to reproduce Unit-00's characteristic yamabuki yellow and white tones, along with lines and markings across the body. Various metallic paint applications around the joints give the overall frame and muscles a mechanical texture composed of multiple metals, transforming the original 「humanoid」 made of flesh into an image closer to 「a weapon」.
The abundant weapon accessories include a High Vibration Particle Knife, Recoilless Rifle, Portable Battery, Electromagnetic Rifle, Electromagnetic Rifle Accessories, Umbilical Cable, a set of adapter parts, Battle Mask, Stand, and shoulder replacement parts to recreate 「Unit-00' (Kai)」. The appearance and functions of each weapon have been significantly modified, allowing them to be mounted on the hangar-style display base, shoulder armor, and waist weapon-hanging rack, offering more diverse styling options through free combination.
This commemorative edition's display base also features a laser foil-textured 30th Anniversary LOGO for the 《Evangelion》 series, shoulder replacement parts that link with the separately sold 「Unit-01」 and 「Unit-02」, and an entirely new, approximately 380mm long 「Spear of Longinus」, crafted with transparent parts and metallic paint to express the light and shadow texture on the spear's surface.
