Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight FAQ Sidesteps Pricing Questions; Fans Worry Game Could Be Warner Bros.' First $80 Title

Officially unveiled at Gamescom Opening Night Live, "Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight" quickly became one of the most anticipated new titles from TT Games and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. However, less than a day after its reveal, the official FAQ page has sparked player concern over the game's price due to its evasive answers.

According to reports from foreign media, Warner Bros. and TT Games proactively addressed the "game price" question on the game's FAQ page, but the response completely sidestepped the core issue.

The response neither confirmed a price nor indicated that pricing was still under discussion. Instead, it vaguely stated that "pre-orders are not yet open" and advised players to add the game to their wishlists. This deliberate evasion immediately led players to speculate whether Warner Bros. plans for "Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight" to be the first Lego series title priced at $80.

In recent years, major game publishers have been testing the market's acceptance of an $80 price point. Nintendo's "Mario Kart World" (マリオカート ワールド) has already broken this barrier, with its standard edition reportedly priced at $80, setting a precedent for the industry.

Microsoft previously attempted to price "The Outer Worlds 2" at $80, but quickly reversed course due to poor reception and dismal pre-order performance. Even the latest "Call of Duty®: Black Ops 7" reportedly maintains a $70 price point for its standard edition.

Notably, even Nintendo's new title after "Mario Kart World," "Donkey Kong: Full Banana Power" (咚奇剛 蕉力全開), reportedly returned to a $70 price point, demonstrating the market's continued high sensitivity and cautious approach to $80 games.

However, the "Lego Batman" series benefits from a massive, well-known IP with an audience spanning all age groups. Furthermore, TT Games' previous title, "Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga," achieved multi-million unit sales. This has led to widespread speculation that Warner Bros. might choose this new title to "test the waters" for a higher price point.

While no official pricing has been confirmed yet, should Warner Bros. ultimately decide to break the $70 threshold, it could mark a significant turning point for the gaming market. Fans, however, generally hope the company will address consumer concerns and prevent "Legacy of the Dark Knight" from becoming the start of a pricing controversy.
