The historical accuracy of Lionsgate's upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, "Michael," has been a major point of discussion among fans. While audience reactions remain to be seen, Michael's daughter, Paris Jackson, has already offered blunt criticism after reviewing the script.
Colman Domingo, who portrays Michael's father Joe Jackson in the film, recently told People magazine that Paris was gracious to him during production and offered significant assistance to the film. This statement was immediately refuted by Paris, who clarified that she had minimal involvement and that Lionsgate did not incorporate her feedback.

Paris later responded in an Instagram Story video, stating: "Don't tell people I helped on a set I wasn't involved with, LOL. I did read one draft of the script and gave my notes, pointing out inaccuracies or parts that felt off to me. But they chose to ignore it, so I just let it go and moved on with my life. They're not my monkeys, and this isn't my circus, so I wish them the best."
Paris also stated, "A large part of this movie caters to the fantasy my dad's fans are still immersed in, and they'll be very happy watching it. They can make whatever they want. One of the main reasons I'm saying this now is because I know many of you will love this movie."

Paris emphasized that this is a Hollywood fantasy story, marketed as a "true story." She added, "The narrative is controlled, and the script contains a lot of inaccurate information and outright lies. I really can't accept it; I don't like lying. I voiced my opinions, but no one listened, so I just walked away. But you're definitely going to be obsessed with this damn movie, so go watch it, enjoy it, do whatever you want, just don't drag me into it."

"Michael" is directed by Antoine Fuqua, known for "The Equalizer" trilogy. The screenplay is penned by John Logan, writer of "Gladiator," and produced by Oscar-winning "Bohemian Rhapsody" producer Graham King. It is slated for release in North America on April 26, 2026.
The film's cast also includes Michael's nephew Jaafar Jackson as Michael, Nia Long as Michael's mother Katherine Jackson, and Miles Teller as Michael's estate executor John Branca. Universal Pictures is handling international distribution.
