Universal has slated the new "Miami Vice" film for release on August 6, 2027. The story is set to delve into the glamour and corruption of mid-1980s Miami, drawing heavily from the original television series' pilot episode and first season. Additionally, Variety magazine reported that the project is already in the casting phase and is expected to begin principal photography next year, utilizing IMAX cameras. Eric Warren Singer, one of the screenwriters for "Top Gun: Maverick," will also contribute to the script.
