The Academy Awards' inclusivity regarding film genres has long been a subject of ongoing debate. Some argue that too few mainstream commercial films receive nominations, others believe horror films are consistently overlooked, and many feel that comedies don't secure enough recognition. Comedy actress Amy Poehler, known for her roles in "Mean Girls" and as the voice of Joy in the "Inside Out" franchise, recently voiced her frustration over comedy's low visibility at the Oscars.

Poehler recently hosted Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman on her podcast, "Good Hang," where they were promoting their new comedy film, "The Roses." During the interview, Cumberbatch praised the difficulty of comedic acting, stating, "If you can do comedy, you can do anything, I truly believe that."

Poehler then responded, "Of course, honey, you don't have to tell me. Every year at the Oscars, all the comedians are ignored, and all the serious actors just stand up and take award after award, and it's bullshit, because comedy is also really hard." Poehler also commended Colman and Cumberbatch as outstanding actors who can effortlessly navigate between drama and comedy.
