Written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah, the light novel series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has spawned multiple TV anime adaptations and movies. The third season of the anime premiered last April, and the second film in the series, "Coleus' Dream," is set to hit theaters next February.
Today (September 22), the official channels announced major news: the original light novel series will conclude with its 23rd volume, bringing an end to its epic 12-year serialization that began in 2013. The final volume is slated for official release on November 29.

Alongside the announcement, the official cover art for light novel Volume 23 was revealed, featuring protagonists Rimuru Tempest and Veldora Tempest, a powerful visual declaration of the series' grand finale.
Fans familiar with the series will immediately spot the clever homage: the composition mirrors the iconic "Shizu" illustration from the very first volume. With identical poses and the familiar Rimuru slime by their side, it's a fitting full-circle moment, bringing the story to a beautiful close.

While the web novel version of "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" concluded long ago, it's the published light novel version that's now finally wrapping up after more than 12 years, marking the end of an era for this beloved series. Many devoted fans have expressed their bittersweet feelings, finding it hard to believe that 12 years have flown by and the journey is finally concluding.
But don't fret just yet! The "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Ways of Enjoying the Holiday" spin-off is still ongoing, and the manga adaptation has plenty of story left to tell. So, it seems Rimuru's adventures aren't entirely over!
