Ever since Tobey Maguire's surprise return in "Spider-Man: No Way Home," rumors have swirled about director Sam Raimi potentially rebooting his "Raimi-verse Spider-Man" series.
Now, the long-awaited "Spider-Man 4" seems to be back in discussion, with the latest buzz coming from an unexpected source.
Mattson Tomlin, co-screenwriter for "The Batman Part II," recently stated on social media that he is "working hard" to push the "Spider-Man 4" project forward.
Tomlin has often spoken about his desire to complete the Raimi trilogy, hoping to explore Peter Parker's struggles balancing family life with crime-fighting. When a netizen jokingly offered to fund his script, Tomlin humorously replied, describing the process as "randomly calling people, holding a megaphone on the street, or putting messages in bottles and throwing them into the sea."
While this isn't an official confirmation, "No Way Home"'s global box office haul of over $1 billion has led to industry speculation about whether Sony Pictures might capitalize on the momentum to revive the Raimi-verse series.
Raimi himself has previously addressed these rumors, admitting he is "not currently involved." However, he has expressed his admiration for the current "Spider-Man" films, calling Tobey's return in "No Way Home" a "mind-blowing moment." He has also repeatedly stated his desire to work with Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst again, even if it's not for a "Spider-Man" project.
Meanwhile, Tobey Maguire is also rumored to appear in "Avengers: Secret Wars," which could potentially indicate whether Sony and Marvel intend to continue this iteration of the Spider-Man story.
